KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday phoned relatives of those killed and wounded in a suicide attack on the Indian consulate in eastern Nangarhar province.
Expressing his deep sympathies and condolences, the president phoned Fazlur Rahim, who lost five family members to the blast, a statement issued from the Presidential Palace said.
The attack in Jalalabad left nine people, including women and children, dead and 26 others wounded.
Karzai once again condemned the terrorist act and assured all possible assistance to the affected families.
He also phoned Haji Mohammad Saeed, imam, where several young religious students were killed and wounded as a result of the suicide attack.
Karzai told Saeed his government had already pledged to reconstruct and renovate the mosque and assured the process would be launched soon.
