Pakistanis among 7 killed in Kunduz

Aug 18, 2013 - 16:46

KUNDUZ (PANinfo-icon): Seven insurgents, including three Pakistanis and Haqqani networkinfo-icon members, were killed in northeastern Kunduz province, officials said on Sunday.

The militants killed during an overnight operation in the Kharotai village of Chahar Dara, the governor’s spokesman, Enayatullah Khaliq, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini said three Haqqani network members Qari Qudrat, Qari Gul Mohammad and Qari Zubair were among the dead.

He added six villages -- Sarasiab, Issakhel, Zadran and Mamakhel -- had been cleared of insurgents as a result of the offensive.

Abdul Azim a resident of Kharotai village, said: “The Talibaninfo-icon don’t torture people, but cause insecurity and fight against Afghan forces.”

Hussaini said security posts had been set up in most of troubled areas this year. More checkpoints would be established, if needed, he promised.
