LASHKARGAH (PAN): A suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the police headquarters in the Marja district of southern Helmand province on Sunday, killing an officer and injuring two civilians.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the incident and said the bomber wanted to enter the police headquarter. However, he detonated his explosives before he reached the target, as police identified him.
But Mohammad Ismail, provincial police coordination officer, told Pajhwok Afghan News said one civilian was killed in the incident. Police suffered no casualties in the bombing, he said.
A resident of the area, who did not want to be named, also verified the killing of a police officer in the incident. He said the incident occurred because of police neglect as they did not properly patrol the area.
