GHAZNI CITY (PAN, were killed on Sunday when a vehicle carrying wedding guests struck a roadside bomb in the Andar district of southern Ghazni province, officials said.
The incident took place at 5pm when the wedding guests were travelling in a pick-up to Sahib Khan village, Ghazni police chief, Col Ghulam Mohiuddin, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Of the 23 people travelling in the ill-fated vehicle, 18 were killed, including 14 women. Five others were wounded in the explosion, the police chief added.
Andar district chief, Mohammad Qasim Desiwal, said 14 women, three men and a child were among the dead. The wounded were taken to hospital for treatment.
Ghazni Civil Hospital Director Dr Baz Mohammad Himmat confirmed receiving seven wounded people. Two women succumbed to their injuries, he concluded.
