QALAT (PAN’s southwestern Balochistan province, an official said on Monday.

Col. Ghulam Jilani Farahi, the deputy police chief for southern Zabul province, identified the militant leader as Mullah Abdul Malik — alias Toryalai.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News unidentified gunmen shot dead the Taliban commander along with two of his companions in the Quetta last night.

There was no immediate comment from the rebel movement on the death of Toryalai, who had been involved in a string of attacks in Qalat, Seori and Shinkai districts of Zabul. 

On Friday, insurgent commander Noorullah Hotak, who was shot dead in Pakistan by unidentified gunmen, was laid to rest in Zabul.

Hotak was gunned down in the Pashtunabad locality of Quetta, the capital of southwestern Balochistan province, on Thursday when the Taliban blamed the Afghan intelligence agency for their leader’s assassination.
